Description | This large dish has a rare drawing of a front view, a side view and a back view of peonies in the center. The veins of the petals and leaves are incised, pooling the cobalt blue pigment and producing a shading effect. Decoration with bands of baoxianghua scrolls and vines in concentric circles surrounding the center motif is thought to be an influence from the metal ware of the Islam culture, to which Yuan blue-and-white porcelain had been exported. |
